Hydrate with Foods
Jul 28, 2023RECIPE: Summer Super Hydration Shake
Summer is in full blast - bringing blistering heat in many parts of the US. Regardless of where you live and the temperature outside, many people are commonly underhydrated.
Did you know that many summer veggies and fruits are over 90% water? Including them in your daily intake is a great way to meet your body’s hydration needs!
Cucumber: 98% water! I love throwing a big chunk in my daily shake
Lettuce: 98% water. Also great in shakes. Some folks save their left over dinner salad and include in their shake the next day for some zippy flavor.
Zucchini: 94% water. Zucchini add an unexpected creaminess to shakes.
Spinach and other super greens: 98% water. Classic base for shakes.
Watermelon: 92% water. Quintessential summer in shakes or in hand.
Strawberries: 92% water. In shakes or as a cool snack out of the fridge.
Bell pepper: 92% water. I love a slice or two in a shake, and as another snack out of the fridge (preslice one or two at a time for quick and easy access).
Broccoli: 92% water. The one food on this list that I have yet to include in a shake, but why not?!
This is just a partial list. Google for more, but most summer fruits and veggies are replete with water.
And of course, if you make a shake, the water in the shake is part of your daily hydration intake.
