Vaccine Resources
Jan 29, 2021Last week’s article about Energy Matters and the COVID-19 Vaccine generated a lot of responses of appreciation. (Click here if you missed it).
We wanted to follow up with a list of COVID-19 vaccine resources to help you find your way: who to contact about getting vaccinated, articles and podcasts we have found informative about understanding the vaccine, side effects, life after getting vaccinated etc.
This list reflects the input of many staffers, but a big shout out to Kirsten Cowan, who wears many “hats'' at Energy Matters, including Queen of Research. She had been coordinating the flow of information for us. Please note: new information is coming out rapidly so some articles may be less relevant by the time you read them! This is a “live” document that will change over time.
Based on what we are experiencing ourselves, and what we are hearing from our patients, friends and colleagues, here are some suggestions for minimizing the side effects of the vaccine.
It’s a good idea to go into the vaccine being well rested, well hydrated and well nourished. Common sense, as the vaccine is an “ask” of your body. It is being given a job to do, so rest up.
Here is one Energy Matters' patient's experience which was shared with me, which includes a great suggestion for minimizing arm pain post-vaccine:
"I carried in me the positive intention that you had suggested, to welcome all the good this experience could bring. The process was very well organized and easy. During the observation wait after the shot I swung my arm up, down, backwards, forwards, around in circles, and the nurse observing us told everyone in the room they should be doing the same thing, to help distribute the fluid and get it into circulation so it wouldn't hurt so much the next day."
Another effective strategy is to use a topical liniment or salve over the injection site. If you have one of these on hand, use it repeatedly immediately after the injection and throughout the next 24-48 hours: BioFreeze, Dr Shir’s Liniment, CBD cream, arnica gel, Dit Dat Liniment. Any sport or trauma liniment will do. If you don't have one at home, contact our front desk and request a tube of T-Relief, a great arnica-based cream that is wonderful to have in your medicine cabinet for all manner of sore muscles.
Other symptoms are variable - fatigue, body aches, chills, irritability etc, more so after the 2nd than the first. But don’t assume you’ll feel badly. Many don’t. I think this is a case of “hope for the best, plan for the possibility of feeling poorly.” So don’t pack the next day or two after the vaccine. If you do feel poorly, remind yourself you are not sick (you cannot get COVID from the vaccine), this will pass, and thank your body for learning how to defend itself against COVID.
If your symptoms are severe, contact your Energy Matters practitioner for possible herbs or supplements to mitigate the side effects (note: we can’t make general recommendations here, as different symptoms require different treatment).
